Course DescriptionThis course trains workers who provide assistance to allied health professionals. Workers at this level operate under direct supervision and do not conduct programs or therapeutic interventions. You can gain employment as an Allied Health Assistant, Occupational Therapy Aide, Physiotherapy Assistant, Speech Pathology Aide, Podiatry Assistant, Nutrition Assistant or Diversional Therapy Assistant. Allied Health Assistants work with social workers, physiotherapist, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation therapist, medical imaging staff and nurses. This is a TGSS (Training Guarantee for Secondary Students) course. The fee is paid fully or partially by the government to the RTO (Registered Training Organisation) although in some cases there may be an additional gap fee that needs to be paid as this course may not be fully funded. Families may or will be required to pay for the TGSS fee if one is required for the course you will attend. Please check the level of subsidy with your school as to how much the school will support.
PathwaysFurther Educational Pathways: Year 2 of the Certificate III Allied Health Assistance - Year 2. When students achieve the certificate they can either apply for University or further tertiary education. Department for Education (public) schools in Western Adelaide region (WASSN) will subsidise the training cost for students if it is part of the students’ genuine career pathway and SACE. Please check the level of subsidy with your Home School. Private school students and families please see your school’s VET Leader to find out about the VET Payment Policy in your school.

This cost consists of $60 personal equipment and materials and a compulsory Regional VET fee for all courses, to be invoiced to the family by the Home School.
