DescriptionStudents complete a full Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) gaining new skills and knowledge to enter the Aged Care workforce which desperately needs workers who have a passion and desire to provide care and support to the elderly in an Aged Care Facility of their home. The training engages learners to deliver care that places the client at the centre of service with inclusive decision-making and informed client choices about activities of their daily living.
PathwaysPersonal Care Assistant, Aged Care Worker, Individual Carer and Support Worker, Residential Support Worker, Home Respite Care Worker, Orderly (transport clients), Diploma of Enrolled Nursing followed by Bachelor of Nursing (university).
PrerequisitesSuccessful completion of Year 10 with C grade or above for Year 10 English. Students also need to show consistent school attendance throughout the year and an ability to cope with the extra workload involved in completing a VET course.
Special RequirementsStudents will be provided with a polo shirt, which can be worn with black pants. This will also be worn for work placement. Closed in shoes are required at all times. Students will require access to a laptop and internet access at their home or at their Home School to submit online assignments. It is highly recommended that students interested in this course have completed one week of work experience in a health facility or community service area prior.

This consists of a $100 (GST free) Regional VET fee and National Crime Check. The home school/student is to arrange the National Crime Check.
Home School Cost$495.00
As this is a Training Guarantee for SACE Students (TGSS) course, fees are subsidised leaving a Gap Fee of $495(GST free) for TGSS students. For students ineligible for TGSS, the RTO Fee For Service cost will be $3000 (GST free), invoiced to the Home School by the RTO. To qualify for TGSS, students must meet the eligibility criteria. Students turning 16 in Semester 1, after the commencement of the course will be fee for service in Semester 1 and TGSS for Semester 2. Students turning 16 in semester 2 will be fee for service for both Semesters. A TGSS Form A needs to be completed and submitted, followed by a Form B, which must be received from the RTO prior to commencement of the course.

Orientation DetailsAn Open Day will be held on Tuesday 4 September 2018 from 3.30 – 5.30pm at Portside Christian College Trade Training Centre. RSVP to Once accepted into the course there is an expectation for students to attend Orientation/Induction also held at Portside Christian College Trade Training Centre on Thursday 31 January 2019 from 3.30 – 5pm. This is compulsory for all students unless prior arrangements have been made.
