DescriptionThis qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children’s wellbeing, learning and development. Depending on the setting, educators may work under direct supervision or autonomously. This course provides students with the theoretical and practical knowledge to work in the childcare industry. Students are provided with an opportunity to explore the community services industry (specifically early childhood education and childcare), concentrating on the emotional, cognitive and physical developmental stages of children, including nutrition. Structured workplace learning allows students to hone their skills and knowledge gained within the classroom environment.
PathwaysTertiary education qualifications associated with early childhood learning and teaching. Childcare workers are employed in private, government and community based child care centres, kindergartens and crèches. Rapid growth in the number of childcare and family care centres in recent years has increased the demand for fully qualified childcare workers. Career options may include: Early Childhood Educator, Kindergarten Teacher, Childcare Assistant, Family Day Carer, Nanny, Out of School Hours Care Assistant, Recreation Assistant, Child care Worker. PrerequisitesSuccessful completion of Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (Year 1).
Special RequirementsA DCSI clearance and First Aid certificate will be required.

Student Cost$100.00
This consists of $100 (GST free) Regional VET fee payable to your Home School. If students have not completed Apply First Aid or have a DCSI history screening, this will be an extra cost.
Home School Cost$900.00
This consists of $300 (GST free) course cost, $400 (GST free) RTO fee and $200 (including GST) for resources and etexts. This will be invoiced to the Home School from Henley High School.
