DescriptionThis course has been designed for students wishing to learn hairdressing skills or enter a career in hairdressing and related personal services industries. There is demand for hairdressers, and in this program, students undertake training that gives them the skills to apply for a full-time or school-based apprenticeship. Students work in a salon environment.
PathwaysSkills development in personal grooming and hairdressing. This program provides students with a strong foundation to apply for an apprenticeship in hairdressing.
PrerequisitesNil - but Introductory course preferred.
Special RequirementsSalon shirt, hairdressing kit and combination lock (for locker) will be ordered on behalf of the student (at cost) and provided at the start of the course. An itemised cost breakdown will be included in the cost to students. These items will remain the property of the student. Black covered shoes, black trousers to be purchased by students prior to commencement.

The Training Centre is located adjacent to Mt Carmel College on the corner of Russell Street and Symon Street. Student car parking is available.

Commencement date 06/02/18
This course will run on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays. Students must select suitable day to meet their timetable commitments and indicate on the Regional VET Student Application Form.
Work Placement18 days
A SWL logbook must be completed as part of the TGSS agreement. 140 hours of SWL is compulsory as part of TGSS.

Student Cost$342.00
This consists of a $100 (GST free) Regional VET fee and $242 (including GST) for salon kits, shirt and personal consumables, payable to your Home School.
Home School Cost$1,870.00
For students ineligible for TGSS, the Fee For Service RTO cost of this course will be $1870 (GST free), invoiced to the Home School by the RTO. This consists of a $1495 (GST free) RTO fee (invoiced to the Home School by the RTO). For students who are following this career pathway, there may be an opportunity for students to complete this course under the Training Guarantee for SACE Students (TGSS), providing students meet the eligibility criteria. A TGSS Form A will need to be completed for all TGSS students and submitted to the RTO. A Form B must be received from the RTO prior to commencement of the course. Fee is subject to change and will be confirmed in December 2016.

Selection ProcessApplicants may be required to provide evidence of previous work experience in either the hairdressing or retail sector and have a keen interest in personal services industries. Interviews will be conducted in September 2017.
Orientation DetailsStudents are encouraged to attend the information day on Wednesday 30 August, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, to speak to current trainees and lecturers.
