DescriptionRegarding this RTO it is the school's intent to deliver. This course is a broad introduction to the building industry. Students will develop skills such as carpentry, concreting and paving, fixing plasterboard, landscaping, tiling and bricklaying. With this range of skills and knowledge, chances of gaining an apprenticeship are significantly improved. It is a very hands-on course, where students work on various projects under the supervision of Henley High School’s instructor, Scott Polkinghorne, who is also a licensed Carpenter & Joiner as well as an Architectural Draftsman. There is a large emphasis on Work Health and Safety, with each student completing an industry standard safety course to obtain their “White Card”. Students have theory workbooks to complete as well as a work placement diary. A total of 15 days workplace learning is needed to complete the certificate.

Special RequirementsStudents must follow WH&S requirements and industry safety standards. High visibility (fluoro) tops, safety boots and safety equipment (including gloves, hat, and safety glasses) must be worn. This consists of $100 (GST free) Regional VET fee payable to your Home School. Henley High School students will need to refer to the HHS Curriculum Handbook for costs.
Home School Cost$475.00
This consists of $300 (GST free) delivery fee, $25 (GST free) RTO fee, $50 (GST free) for White Card and $100 (including GST) for materials. This will be invoiced to the Home School from Henley High School.
