DescriptionThis course introduces students to the practical and theoretical aspects of logistics administration. Students will complete the practical aspects of the course in a simulated business environment (Simbus). Students work as business people, operating their own business and making decisions that lead the business into profitable (or not-so-profitable) outcomes. They learn to work as operational planners and administrators, develop understanding of relevant legislation, apply problem solving principles and gain knowledge of the day to day operations of a business entity. Simbus (run by TAFE SA), has over 100 simulated business organisations that have the opportunity to trade with each other throughout Australia. The simulated business introduces students to aspects of logistics administration including: • management of the simulated business (Harbor View Traders) • working in business departments: Administration, Imports, Exports, Purchases, Sales, Human Resources • working with business partners • identifying jobs and personal opportunities in the corporate world • following work, health and safety procedures • producing business documents • delivering customer service • developing a range of skills involving routines and procedures used by business and supply chains • working as a team, decision making, policy and procedure development and planning events The course leads onto tertiary education or employment in this industry.
