DescriptionThis course has a strong focus on the care of young children and the requirements and regulations that impact on the childcare industry. The skills gained can be transferred to work-related areas which involve young children. It offers an alternative pathway to TAFE and University, whilst gaining knowledge of the industry and the demands of differing age groups.
PathwaysStudents can continue further study in a Certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care and other qualifications in Community Services. Students can alternately gain employment in Childcare and other related fields.
PrerequisitesStrong literacy skills, basic numeracy skills, an interest in young children, good oral communication and negotiation skills, a commitment to attend all sessions. A mature attitude and an ability to be self-reliant is also required. Students will need a DCSI history screening PRIOR to the course commencing. Students need to arrange this through their Home School.
Special RequirementsHome school uniform, flat shoes, clothing to meet industry expectations, brimmed hat, access to IT outside of class time, stationery.

This consists of $100 (GST free) Regional VET fee, $45 (GST included) for a Polo Shirt and $57.20 (GST included) for DCSI History Screening, payable to your Home School. The Home School is to organise the DCSI screening.
Home School Cost$445.00
This includes $300 (GST free) course cost and $145 (GST free) First Aid RTO fee. This will be invoiced to the Home School from Woodville High School.
