DescriptionRegarding this RTO it is the school's intent to deliver. This Certificate II in Construction Pathways develops building and construction skills, to introduce students to the specialised construction fields of work, including carpentry, brick and block laying, wall and ceiling fixing and tiling. This course is endorsed and supported by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) who provides some funding for eligible students.
PathwaysStudents will gain skills appropriate to their chosen field of work in the construction industry: carpentry, brick and block laying, solid plastering and tiling. This course is a prerequisite for tradePLUS courses at RTCC.
PrerequisitesThere are no prerequisites for this course although completion of Introduction to Construction tradeSKILLS is desirable.
Special RequirementsHigh visibility shirt and jumper and combination lock (for locker) will be ordered on behalf of the student (at cost) and provided at the start of the course. An itemised cost breakdown will be included in the cost to students. Black steel-capped boots and khaki work trousers to be purchased by students prior to commencement.

This course runs on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Students must select a suitable day to meet their timetable commitments and indicate on the Regional VET Student Application Form.
Work Placement10 days
A SWL logbook must be completed as part of the TGSS agreement. 70 hours of SWL is compulsory as part of TGSS. 15 days for Fee For Service students. For students doing this course as Fee for Service,15 days is required (CITB D2C requirement).

Student Cost$480.00
This consists of a $100 (GST free) Regional VET fee and $380 (including GST) for Personal Protective Equipment and tools, payable to your Home School. These items will remain the property of the student, including take-home projects made during the course.
Home School Cost$3,400.00
TGSS - fee free. For students ineligible for TGSS, the RTO Fee For Service cost of this course will be $1700 per semester (GST free), invoiced to the Home School by the RTO. For students who are following this career pathway, there may be an opportunity for students to complete this course under the Training Guarantee for SACE Students (TGSS), providing students meet the eligibility criteria. A TGSS Form A will need to be completed for all TGSS students and submitted to the RTO. A Form B must be received from the RTO prior to commencement of the course.

Selection ProcessApplicants will be required to provide evidence of previous work experience in the building and construction sector in 2018. Interviews will be conducted during November 2018. Completion of Introduction to Construction course is desirable but not essential.
Orientation DetailsStudents are encouraged to attend the information day on Wednesday 22 August, 15:30 to 19:30, to speak to current trainees and lecturers.
