DescriptionThe Doorways 2 Construction - Complete Construction course will teach students about diverse aspects of the construction industry while working on unique real world construction projects. It covers construction operations including; • site safety, site organisation and communication skills • management of a construction site • design development and interpreting construction drawings • residential construction (timber framing) • commercial construction (steel fabrication and installation) • civil construction • use of power tools • operation of heavy machinery (Kabota excavator and Kanga loader) • surveying and taking levels • concreting, paving and hardscape • general construction techniques • 'White Card’, allowing access to building sites Throughout the course, students construct dynamic projects that range from bespoke architectural POD’s to ambitious urban intervention within the Ocean View site and within the broader community.
PathwaysThis course gives students an excellent start if they are considering a career in any area of construction, surveying, engineering, architecture, project management, mining or other related industries. Successful completion of the course will allow students to continue career development in a diverse selection of Certificate III trades, while also supporting students that wish to pursue TAFE or university studies in architecture, surveying, engineering and project management.
